Roger Hospedales - Co-Head Coach / Co-Owner
Roger started his coaching career at the age of 16 teaching tennis, and has coached National Champions, Provincial Champions, and successful age group competitors in a variety of sports including tennis, badminton, hockey, swimming, cycling, running, and triathlon. He has also worked with International Elite athletes to improve their strength and conditioning.
With 20+ years of triathlon and duathlon racing and coaching experience, Roger has done it all, seen it all, tried it all, and made the mistakes that you do not need to repeat. Roger has coached triathletes to personal bests and podium performances, and he is adept to designing programs based on heart rate and/or power.
Roger's other triathlon experiences include: serving on the Board of Directors for Triathlon Ontario, editor of Transitions Magazine, News Editor of Triathlon Magazine Canada, writer and live reporter for Ironman.com, and editor/producer/social media manager for MultiSport Canada.
Despite an arthritic foot and constantly dislocating shoulder, Roger realizes he may not achieve as many podium performances as he used to, but will continue to race simply because he loves the sport and so he can cross many finish lines with his daughter. He completed his 24th Ironman at the Ironman World Championship in 2015.
Roger's Approach to Coaching:
As a coach, I focus on the athlete/coach relationship and maintaining strong communication to ensure that we both are in sync to successfully achieve your athletic goals. I work with small numbers of athletes to maintain this dynamic. All workouts have a purpose, and are carefully crafted into an overall plan that fits your schedule to achieve maximum efficiency and benefit. You will not be training to have an impressive training log, but you will be training to have your best race day performance.
